Henson injury

Posted by Delme Parfitt on April 3, 2007 9:23 AM |

I honestly can't see Gavin Henson making the World Cup given that he is now out for the rest of this season.

He has had a terrible tewo years, doing nothing since the Grand Slam, and I just can't see him being able to press his claims sufficiently between now and the start of the tournament.
What I will say too is that the information that has filtered out about his injury has been vastly confusing yet again.
Just a couple of months ago the Ospreys were telling us it was just a bit of swelling around his knee joint.
Now it's being quoted as a cruciate ligament problem, aomething altogether more sinister.
Will he make it? Let me know what you think.

It has definitely been a few years for Gavin Henson to forget. Unfortunately for Gavin I do not feel that he is necessarily that important to Wales' World Cup pursuit.

There are numerous players that could fill the No 12 position: James Hook, Gareth Thomas, Gavin Evans and dare I say Stephen Jones! Gareth Jenkins would obviously like to have all of the top players at his disposal but whether Gavin Henson would fit into that category is an arguement in itself.

The 10/12 debate will continue right up until the start of the Cup in the Autumn. Despite the fantastic victory over England I would still prefer to see James Hook and Stephen Jones in these positions, whichever way around you want to play them.
